Ethics, Ethos & Values
OUR VALUES
Gemmology Rocks is a small company with big ideas, and ideals. Originally the company was set up by Founder Kerry Gregory, because she wanted to do more of what she loved, in a way she believed in, working with people who shared her values, dreams and goals. Everyone who works within Gemmology Rocks, shares these common values.
The things we believe in and strive to do are:
- Work collaboratively with people, not competitively
- Share our knowledge, experience and expertise
- Support the industry and those in it
- Be inclusive and accessible
- Always maintain the utmost integrity and honesty
We are members of a number of trade organisations, we constantly work to develop ourselves and our staff, as well as our practices to be the best we can be.
SUSTAINABILITY
We're not perfect, but we take the advice of out friend Stuart Pool of Nineteen48, he once told us "it's not about being perfect, it's about always taking steps to be a bit better, so that's what we do." So that's what we do, look at what we did, what we do and try and do it better.
We sell pre-owned gems, books and equipment, to try and help people reuse, reduce and recycle. We use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible, we avoid the use of plastic where we can, particularly single use plastic. We do not use single use, disposable, grip seal bags for our stones, we use heavy duty plastic that can be reused hundreds of times, these keep your stones safe, and help to reduce waste.
We keep most things in the cloud, and print only when necessary, so you will usually not get a printed invoice from us but an e-invoice. We doodle scribble and write notes on scrap paper. and try and keep paper use to a minimum if we can. Our loo paper comes from the fab people at www.uk.whogivesacrap.org, and we try and buy from companies that help others.
YOUR INPUT
If there is something you love about us let us know, let the world know. If there is something you think we can do better, please let us know, we would love to hear and try to do it, if it will make us better and is within our power.
