Gemstones: From Sourcing to Selling is the ultimate, practical online gemstone course created specifically for jewellery makers, designers, retail professionals and gemstone collectors who want to protect themselves from fraudulent sellers and their reputation when selling to customers. 

This vocational course skips the stuffy academic theory to give you the real-world skills you need before you even start gem identification. 

You will gain the exact knowledge and skills needed to screen dealers and gemstones online and in person. Don't get caught out by bad cuts, misdescribed stones or the wrong professional ettiquette —learn how to buy right, sell smart, and deliver absolute trust to your customers.

Our 6 week online Gemstone Course gives you the practical knowledge you need to understand, choose and design with gemstones. As part of the course you'll receive a collection of 18 gemstones (you get to keep!) before the course begins, so you can follow along with live classes, examine your stones and learn through hands-on experience from the comfort and ease of your own home or office!

Over the 1 hour sessions for 6 weeks you'll learn:

💎 Week 1- The Basics
Understand the types of gemstones on the market, what varieties are out there, what fraudulent stones are common, which treatments to look out for. Also how to describe them with the right terminology, legally and correctly, something everyone working with gemstones should know.

💎 Week 2 - Cut & Carat
Discover which gemstones are commonly cut a certain way, how to assess how well a gemstone is cut, what carat really means, and why these factors matter when choosing stones.

💎 Week 3 - Colour & Clarity
Learn how to describe colour to a gemstone dealer to get the right stone first time, why stones can appear different colours, how clarity changes by gem variety, and use that to help recognise and value stones.

💎 Week 4 - Gemstones in Jewellery
Explore which gemstones are best suited to different jewellery designs, durability, wearability, practical design considerations and what you can and can't do in the workshop.

💎 Week 5 - Price & Value
Understand what influences gemstone prices, why some stones are more or less expensive, how to predict what you should pay, recognise value and buy with confidence at a fair price.

💎 Week 6 - How to Do Business
Learn practical tips for sourcing and screening gemstones, working with suppliers, asking the right questions, doing business in the expected way, and selling gemstones with integrity to customers.
