Refractometer

A refractometer with in-built switchable light source is primarily used for measuring the refractive indices of faceted gemstones. It can also be used for testing cabochons, carvings and crystal faces (*with some training and experience - if you need this our courses will help 😉!)

Also to distinguish between gemstones of an optically isotropic (singly refractive) or anisotropic (doubly refractive) nature. This instrument is supplied with a removable polarising lens, USB cable, batteries and protective case. It is great for gemmology on the go.
